In 1966, Ford shocked the racing world when three GT40 Mk.ii racecars outpaced the likes of Ferrari and Porsche to finish 1-2-3 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This summer, Ford will get another shot at glory. Today race organizers, ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) confirmed acceptance of all for Ford GT entries into the GTE Pro class category.

“It was great to see all four Ford GTs up there on the Le Mans entry list today,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director, who attended this afternoon’s press conference in Paris. “Newcomers are by no means guaranteed an entry, whatever their history or ambitions, so we thank the ACO for giving Ford the opportunity for a four-car assault in June.”

The Ford GT is the pinnacle of the Ford Performance division. It features an efficient and powerful EcoBoost engine, and cutting-edge aerodynamics. "We have prepared well and can't wait to get the Ford GTs onto the track there and show everyone what they can do,” said Chip Ganassi, owner of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing.

The four entries will run numbers 66 through 69. Driver lineups will be announced closer to race date.
