Starting your car should be easy, right? Unfortunately, there are a number of things that can go wrong with an ignition switch or coil to cause your engine to have trouble getting started when you turn your key. The team here at Friendly Ford of Crosby has some tips for detecting ignition problems so you aren't stuck with a car that won't start. Here are some of the top signs your ignition requires service.
A misfiring engine may mean you have a bad ignition coil. You'll notice a sputtering noise or feel jerking when you're driving down the road. There may also be vibrating or shaking when you stop.
A hard start may mean the spark plug isn't getting enough spark from the ignition coil. Stalling is another sign there's a problem. If your key won't turn or there's no noise from the starter, it could be due to ignition failure.
